 Vapor barriers, also known as retardants, are used to minimize moisture and vapor that drifts up from the open-earth environment of a crawl space. The liner’s purpose is to prevent the transfer and penetration of water vapor from one area to another. Every crawl space should have at least a minimum of a six millimeters (6 mm) thick barrier or retardant. Mold and Mildew Solutions does offer a basic 6 mm and basic 10 mm vapor barrier installation on the dirt floor only.

The dirt crawl space problem is one where you get a whole lot of benefit by fixing it, without have a terribly expensive and disruptive home project to deal with.

There are four steps to totally eliminating the dirt crawl space negative effects on the rest of the house. You may need one or all of these options.

Step1. Fix the water leakage if there is any
Step 2. Isolate the house from the earth
Step 3. Seal the vents and outside air leaks
Step 4. Condition or dehumidify your crawlspace air

The difference is that the CleanSpace® system seal out moisture from the internal perimeter wall where most water penetration occurs. The liner does not have any seams, so you do not have to worry about moisture coming through this way. The plastic is durable enough to crawl on. It does not rip or tear; you could even use your crawl space area for extra storage space after installment.

The CleanSpace® system is warranted to reduce the humidity in a dirt crawlspace.

The CleanSpace® liner is manufactured with an antimicrobial additive called UltraFresh – molded right into the material. The CleanSpace® liner is tough enough for you to crawl on it and use your crawl space for storage. Servicemen can crawl on it without worry of putting holes or tears in the liner. The liner completely stops moisture penetration. The wall is installed up to the termite line, so this does not interfere with yearly inspections of a termite bond.

The bright white finished side really brightens a crawl space with the available lighting and allows you to easily see that your crawl space is free of mold, insects and dirt.

Installation of the CleanSpace System®

Small holes are drilled into the top of your crawl space walls and nylon fasteners are installed to permanently secure the 12 mm CleanSpace® liner to the walls.

The top edge of the CleanSpace® liner is sealed to the walls with polyurethane sealant. All seams are sealed with special 4-inch wide sealing tape and/or sealant made for the CleanSpace® liner. The CleanSpace® liner is also sealed around other objects such as pipes, columns and piers with any combination of sealants or concrete.

CleanSpace - Crawl Space Vapor Barrier

The CleanSpace Crawl Space Liner is a 20 mm crawl space vapor barrier that is installed on the floors and walls of a crawl space area. Once installed, it completely stops moisture from passing through to the home, including moisture from the dirt below and water vapor from dirt and concrete walls. When combined with airtight crawl space vents and doors, it will also protect your crawl space from outside moisture and humidity that would otherwise pass in through openings in the crawl space walls (such as crawl space vents and openings around pipe penetrations).

The CleanSpace liner is warranted to be durable and long-lasting. Made with seven layers of high-density polyethylene, lot-density polyethylene and polyester cord, it comes with a 25-year warranty against damage from normal wear and tear, allowing access by the homeowner and servicemen without the worry of ripping or damaging the liner. Once CleanSpace is installed in your home, you'll be able to access the space without worry, using your newly protected crawl space as dependable storage space.

Once installed, CleanSpace perfectly combines function and visual appeal. With a bright white liner, it's easy to see just how clean your liner is. The white color is much more reflective than black or clear crawlspace liners, which makes it available for inspection by termite contractors, without any need to remove the liner, and a special antimicrobial additive, UltraFresh, ensures that mold and bacteria growth will not be supported by the liner.

The installing Dealer warrants the CleanSpace® crawl space liner to be free from holes and tears, and be free from groundwater on top of the liner (when a complete drainage system is installed.) or he will repair at no charge. Warranty does not include damage from abuse or moisture from condensation. (* does not include pump failure or acts of God) There are no other warranties expressed or implied.

Basement Systems' SmartSump

The SmartSump crawl space sump pump has a high-quality, 1/3 horsepower, cast-iron Zoeller sump pump with automatic float switch.

The sump pump cover and unique sump liner are specially designed to accept the CleanSpace crawl space vapor barrier system for an airtight seal.

Since you don't go into your crawl space a lot, you need to know if there is a plumbing leak. The SmartSump has a unique lid design, so water from a plumbing leak fills an alarm pocket on the lid first, sounding a WaterWatch alarm that will let you know there is a plumbing leak. From there, the water flows down a special airtight floor drain that will let the water down, but damp air cannot come up into your crawl space.

The WaterWatch alarm also alerts you to pump failure for any reason, including power outages.

Optional Battery Back-up Sump Pump Protection

The SmartSump is available with or without an optional UltraSump Battery Back-up pumping system. The UltraSump has a second pump in case of primary pump failure, a second switch, in case of switch failure, and second power source, in case of power failure.

The UltraSump can pump over 8,000 gallons of water out of your crawl space from the energy stored in the specially sealed, long-term standby battery. There is a special charging system that keeps the battery charged when the battery is on and an alarm to tell you the secondary pump is operating. This protection is optional, but highly recommended.

Crawl Space Dehumidifier

Dehumidification adds to what is needed to make a conditioned crawl space, and in turn it will save on energy cost.

Some crawl spaces will benefit from a professional grade dehumidification unit to avoid moisture's negative effects on the crawl space air. Our professional system ensures that the relative humidity stays below 55 percent .High relative humidity, over 60 to 70 percent, can cause an atmosphere for mold growth. EverLast Crawl Space Door

A crawl space door made of wood is not built to last. Because the crawl space door is in a damp environment near the ground, sometimes exposed to the weather, it will warp, rot and is tough to keep paint on. Basement Systems EverLast Crawl Space Door solves this problem.
